It was a championship battle that came down to the last two races before it was decided, but American Colin Edwards has won the 2002 World Superbike Championship. He beat Australian Troy Bayliss for the title in two nail-biting races at Imola, Italy. Both riders had dominated the season with 25 wins between them, but in the end Edwards’ consistency all year paid off and handed him the victory.
Way to go Colin! We saw him at Laguna Seca this year, where he began the charge that would eventually lead to victory. What a season, and what a finale. Truly impressive stuff for motorcycle racing fans.
