My dad has been dealing with MS for a number of years now, and to put it bluntly, it totally sucks. He uses a Leki walking stick to help balance his walking, but gets tired easily. He doesn’t have too much pain but must take multiple daily injections in an effort to stem the further onset of symptoms. Long story short, it’s a major obstacle.
I’ve decided to participate in this year’s BikeMS ride. It’s my small way of trying to help raise money and awareness for MS research, and to show support for my dad.
I’ll be doing the 150 mile option, which is a 100 mile ride on day one, and a 60 mile ride on day two. Since the ride is beginning and ending in Ventura this year, I’ll be riding to and from, adding another 50 miles per day. My grand total mileage will be approximately 260 miles over the two days.
If you’d like to help support my effort and MS research, consider donating to my fundraising effort. I’ve started off with a modest goal of $350. I’d encourage people to donate $0.10 a mile (or $26 dollars total) towards a cause that will hopefully one day help people like my dad get their lives back.
