I’m pleased to announce the re-launch of SlopeAerobatics.com, a website dedicated to radio control slope and glider aerobatics. It originally launched in 2007 using a Drupal platform that proved to be very cumbersome to theme and manage. So much so that, combined with other factors, I ended up neglecting the site for a good deal of time.
Recently my passion for slope soaring has been re-ignited, so I decided to see if I couldn’t get SlopeAerobatics on a better footing. After my experience converting this website (stevelange.net) to WordPress, I realized it would be the perfect platform for SlopeAerbatics, too.
I also switched hosting from Gate.com (originally HostSave) over to HostGator.com and have been very happy. On the old host, the Drupal installation was painfully slow, sometimes failing to load altogether – which is pretty unforgivable considering how truly little traffic the site got. Surely much of that fault was due to Drupal itself, but the cut-rate service provided by Gate.com didn’t help anything. Anyways, HostGator’s service has been excellent, so much so that I’ve moved everything over… four sites hosted for the price of what I was paying just for stevelange.net previously, and with better performance overall. Stoked!
So, WordPress + HostGator = a whole new day for SlopeAerobatics. Stop by and check it out… a lot has changed in the world since the site’s original launch, and I hope it won’t come off as too egotistical to say that its mere presence (such as it was) helped spark renewed interest in the discipline. It’s certainly easier to dredge up cool slope aerobatics videos on YouTube these days! 🙂
